Traaaaaiiiiined Soldiers!

So thats how it ended. My 9 weeks in BMT. As per every single ending of every single thing in life the feelings were the same. Hate to say it, but I'll miss Tekong.

By request, I'll tell you guys more about my section mates and commanding officers. Lets start with commanding officers shall we?

OC (Officer Commanding) - The guy in charge of the company

His name is Erzwin Yem. A cool name, yes I know. Well he's the guy who's in charge of everything that goes on in the company. If he says you book out early you can do so. If he says you are confined, you get your weekend in camp.

He's a really funny guy. Very muscular, can do 28 pull ups but lost to one of my platoon mates who did 29. Likes swinging his arms back and forth while talking. Says random funny stuff. Acts dumb but actually very serious and stern when it comes to important stuff. My batch was his first batch as an OC. I like the way he does stuff. Respect.

PC (Platoon Commander) - The guy who does all your admin stuff

The PC is supposed to be in charge of your platoon, but he guides the rest of the section commanders from above. So we don't see much of him. My PC's name is Mathew. He has large biceps, and was trained as an artillery officer, but posted to an infantry training unit (which is my company). A very mild and passive person. Doesn't tekan us, but always talks serious stuff with us everytime we meet.

PS (Platoon Sergeant) - The largest sergeant

Our PS's name is Khairul. A bit on the plump side, has problems with IPPT. But is very good with management issues and allocation of manpower. Talks to all of us and comes to our sections regularly. Interested in electronics, helped us record the platoon song Aloysius wrote. Very good with AV stuff. Tends to tekan us quite a lot.

Sergeant 1 - Alvin

Sergeant Alvin was the newest addition to our platoon for the year, so he's quite new to the job. Sometimes doesn't give clear enough instructions as a result. But enjoy his company. Fellow guitar player. Likes emo songs. Has a cool phone. Promised to buy the Eden-Sol album when we release it. Fellow Christian. Jovial, yet introverted. Doesn't tekan us much.

Sergeant 2 - Shao Ming

Has a deep voice. Likes juggling. Very helpful and understanding to us, gives us advice. Clear on his standards for us. Likes plants, and has a small box of plants he sometimes gives us to take care of. Comes up to our section whenever needed to supervise arms cleaning or area cleaning.

Sergeant 3 - Fazely

In charge of my section. A hilarious guy who makes us laugh. Has poor command of spoken English and admits it lol. Wants to learn guitar songs from me. Likes to tekan us. Favourite form of punishment = alternate leg thrusts. Highest level of punishment meted out: 70 counts of 4 alternate leg thrusts. Highest level of punishment used as warning: 100 counts of 4 alternate leg thrusts. Smokes. Other than the tekaning he's a very nice guy.

Random sergeants - Joseph and Joshua

Sgt Joseph is ORDing soon so we don't see him much. He's in charge of the armskote (aka the place where you get your rifles from). Sgt Joshua was covered in a previous post.

Ok I think thats quite long so I'll cover my section mates in the next post.

Digimon

I'm feeling quite nostalgic and have been thinking about my childhood a lot recently. A lot of it is because of the retreat I just had with my CG members and how having such a retreat reminded me of days that were more slower paced and more relaxed.  It makes me want to relive some of my memories. Two ways that I've thought about is soccer - I've been watching some of the World Cup matches, and it reminds me of the late nights I had watching matches when I was 15 or so and just starting this blog. About how soccermugger came to be in the first place and how I wanted this platform to post about soccer scores and how I felt about the matches I watched. The other way is to watch old anime, and I'm thinking about revisiting the first ever anime I watched which was Digimon. It was televised in Mandarin at 8am, and I remember waking up early on the weekends to watch it fervently. Maybe its time to do that again.  In general I guess my inclinations are to be more at ease and

Vanguard

It’s taken a long time, but I think my heart is finally at peace. It’s been a tough journey but I am glad to say the worst of it is over. At the moment am surrounded by those who matter to me and I am doing meaningful things. Truly thankful that God has returned me to such a state.  In this season of Good Friday and Easter the word Vanguard comes to mind. Maybe it’s that season of life where God is exactly that for me, where we will be together in uncharted battlegrounds in both personal and professional life.  Not too sure when my next post will be but hope the next will be better than the last. Until next time!

Ride On

Recently things have been going really well. I've had a leadership position in my workplace for almost one year now and it is quite amazing how God has guided throughout the way. Despite this I feel that I have achieved the balance between my work, personal life and I'm in some sort of a flow that makes me satisfied about how things are going. I'm about to transition to another stage of it, and it feels that along the way God has prepared me each and every step. There's a lot to give thanks for.  Things are really cruising along. I've always liked a good, smooth drive and life feels that way at the moment. Its been a long time along a bumpy road but finally things feel right.  Praise be to God who calms the raging seas. Praise be to God who can be counted on for the hardest difficulties in life.  Not sure when the next post be, but I think if things carry on the way they are, more good posts are to come.
