Challenge

Hi guys! Well, once again its time for a post! Well its the 3rd week of uni, and already things are starting to get busy! Out of my 4 modules, the most relaxed one seems to be the one about Child Language Development, and its probably the only one without any weekly assessment! Things are different with the rest of my honors modules for this semester, which both require regular submissions every week. These submissions aren't too big, but every time they come around, need a fair dose of reading, thinking and reflection. Which is understandable, as counseling psychology and positive psychology are pretty much very application based and have to be internalized in a way! So right now I'm fairly challenged in a good way! Also keeping me challenged and excited is the weekly leaders mentoring sessions... I've never thought I'd have the capability to teach to such an extent, preparing materials every other week, but its been successful to say the least! There's truth i

New Semester

Well I've taken rather long for a next post haven't I? It's been one thing after another as usual, and its strange that now that my semester is starting it feels oddly relaxing to be back in school. Somehow there's this feeling about a school schedule that puts one at ease! So the modules I'm taking are: PL4221 Early Language Development LAJ3205 Media Japanese PL4880G Positive Psychology PL4208 Intro to Counseling Psychology Only 4 modules this semester, and thus a not very long 15 hours in school per week once tutorials kick in! For now I've also got a monday thursday break, and its pretty good! One day of break for an extra long weekend, and a midweek break to consolidate. The downside is a 6 hour lesson rush all through dinner from 3-9pm on friday. Besides that, page 7 of the heroic polonaise is keeping me stuck... The running octaves are killer as usual. Besides that, have started playing Skyrim and so far enjoying it. Also, the latest anime is

Ripening Fruit

Finally, we are in the thick of youth month... As I see the hustle and bustle around me I'm reminded of PoP last year, and this year expectations are running high with SoS... Quite excited to see what will come out of it. If anything, its a big testament of God's faithfulness! So far I've been focusing more on the leader's training syllabus, and my heart goes out to all the older ones in YE... When I was in YE at the age of 17+ I already found myself not learning much from the weekly sessions, because many of those things were information that I heard before that, and served merely as reminders. I only was able to grow spiritually as a result of putting God and others before myself, and that I learnt through leadership! It's quite fantastic how my spiritual journey improved by leaps and bounds because I was able to forsake my own selfish desires and have that loving relationship with God my heavenly father, and being in favor with man... And I really hope that as

Post Camp

It's been a slew of work since church camp ended! Especially with all the YE outings here and there! I personally don't think I'm very good at rallying people, but I guess I just have to try my best! So far the first outing that happened was on Saturday, which was the YE ECP outing! It would've been nice if there were more people going, but I guess the group was just nice to cycle with, and there were a mix of people from different age groups so I'm satisfied! The weather was perfect! As for the next outing I'm a little more apprehensive because of the response so far... Seems like there may be not enough people but we'll see! :D It's an outing for God after all, to enjoy His presence around us and appreciate Him for the many leisure activities He provides for us! This outing is for Him! :D On to church camp! I came with a mindset of relaxation, wanting to have times of rest before God. I somewhat achieved it, but I think that wasn't God's pl

Elemental Gelade

Black Cat was a pretty short series so I'm already done with it! Next up is Elemental Gelade, which is a story about humans living with a race of people called Edel Raids who are able to transform into weapons. Because of this property, many bad people desire this power for evil personal means... This story follows Cou Van Giruet, who is a rookie sky pirate who one day finds this box containing an Edel Raid in the loot of one of the ships that was raided... An Edel Raid named Ren emerges from within and seeing Coud's trustworthiness, becomes his weapon! Together, they journey to find the legendary land of Edel Garden! Here's a pic: Ren's on the left and Cou's on the right! Well for this week many things have been started again: I've started running, not that I need it, but for the sake of preparing for the next IPPT window which opens after my next birthday! And I'm also starting to get in the groove of continuing with my own fantasy story... I'

Black Cat

Well so that's the title of the most recent anime I'm watching! :) It's about a really good assassin by the name of Train who works for an organization called Chronos... After becoming the best assassin and given the title of Black Cat (because everyone who's his target dies), he starts to wonder whether taking the life of others is the right path and after a series of events escapes from the organization. At the same time, his partner, Creed betrays Chronos and creates his own group of evil warriors, planning to take Chronos down. Well thats all I know for now! But so far the series is pretty interesting! The main character, Train! Well speaking of black cats the one which lives in at my house carpark seems to be appearing more often. Cute! Van really loves it haha! :) Besides this, I'm finally at the fourth page of Chopin's Heroic Polonaise! Besides that, for Oblivion, I'm currently on the verge of finishing off the last Thieves Guild quest! A

Life Lessons

Seeing Vanessa post on her blog 10 things that are positive everyday made me rather proud of her, and hence although I may not be doing the exact same thing, I was inspired to post more things that speak of God's goodness and His realness in my life! Today was another of those days where He revealed more about my deeper insecurities. As mentioned by the previous posts, one of the nights of the previous week I was worried and feared for my future. It was today, as I spent my time with Vanessa that I realized the core issue I was dealing with. Looking at my fear, its not one of staying in obscurity, or not living up to my own expectations or anything like that. God revealed to me it was because of my faithfulness and commitment to the future of the relationship between Van and I that I was feeling this way. In other words, He showed me that my anxiety and fear, though uncalled for, was not a selfish one, because it wasn't self seeking. It was born out of my love and responsib

Sovereign Protector

And exams are done with!!! I was pretty pleased when exams were over, and I'm indulging myself with relaxation... Actually not much of it because since then I've had to do stuff like prepare for my teaching for SYC as well as preparing materials for YE sessions! The next thing on my to do list for YE will be to prep for leaders meeting, coming up with next half's schedule, and leaders training... Got my work cut out for me, as always with every holiday period! So want to take this chance to talk about something that I felt specially that God was speaking to me this week... I've always not taken stuff like internships and enrichment because my time is always taken up by church stuff, and that thought came to haunt me the night before my second last paper... I wanted to sleep early, but ironically ended up awake for some time, thinking about my future and how I would match up with all my peers, who definitely have much more credentials and a bigger CV than I do... Fear

Return

I'm finally returning to the blogosphere... Well to give a fairly simple explanation why I've been gone for so long: I've got lots of stuff to do within the week, especially since now I've got to make sure YE runs smoothly. Every week there's definitely something to carry out and thus my every week is packed! But that being said, I do find that I'm in this place where my meaning of life is fulfilled, and that means more than the world to me. To be able to impact others and help them on their journeys through life is more than I ever wanted... If I have a job like this it'd be great! Yup so many things to update: I'm finally on the 3rd page of Chopin's Heroic Polonaise, I'm playing Oblivion, and I'm watching another sports based anime: Eyeshield 21 (this time its about american football). Well this semester was so much easier than my last few, in the sense there were no rushed deadlines, no insanely crushing weeks and massive papers to

Ippo

Hi guys... It's been a month or so since I last updated... Ever since tutorials began its been a whole lot of busyness in store for me, so much so that there are days when I've got to sleep rather late. My body clock's pretty strange now, and I think I have a sleep debt. But all that doesn't matter, compared to the joy I have giving my best to God everyday! :) So, it's now break week, and I must say that it's a well deserved rest, after having to do lots of stuff for school, YE and other miscellaneous stuff. Updates on leisure activities... I'm still stuck at the second page of the heroic polonaise, still playing alpha protocol, but what's new is that I'm watching a new anime: Hajime no Ippo, which is about a young boy who's bullied and decides to pick up boxing to find out what being strong truly means. Along the way, he gains Japan's Featherweight Title and is still on the process of learning what true strength means. A rather inspiri

Chocolate

Apologies for being laggy as always... Well balancing the many things I've got to do is becoming sort of a challenge... In between school work, YE stuff, personal stuff, and dates with Vanessa I haven't gotten down to writing a good post, and I apologize to those who are regular readers! In the duration of the long time I've not posted, classes have started full force, and my schedule, though not perfect, has Monday as a free day, which Vanessa too has free. In a way it truly is the providence of God for classes that don't occupy a good monday. But besides that, I've got Tuesdays and Thursdays mega long, but Wednesdays spanning 2 hrs (with a 1hr random evening lesson) and Fridays spanning 4 hours, which is not too bad! This semester bidding has been extremely expensive and not very successful, but all the same I thank God for teaching me to be flexible and to learn to adapt to change! On the YE front, now that I have the luxury of hindsight, that once again I

Vandel

The title may seem like a horribly misspelled spin on the word that is used to refer to a person who damages public property, but trust me, its not! :) It's the name of the set of monsters who are the antagonists for the newest anime I'm watching, my first of 2013: Beet the Vandel Buster! Well, the storyline is set in an era where humans are undergoing all sorts of oppression under humanoid monsters called Vandels, and because of that Busters emerge to defeat these beings. The main character, Beet, is a strange boy who has amazing stamina, able to run for 3 days straight, but a strange weakness - he falls asleep for 1 whole day after the 3 days, and cannot be woken. When he was young, his accidental intervention in a fight between an extremely strong Vandel and 5 Busters caused him to be injured almost fatally, and the Busters, to save his life, sacrificed their weapons, embedding them in Beet's body to save him. And so this is a story about Beet and his journeys to end

Running After You

Been running around a whole lot since camp ended, and right after camp there was this whole list of activities that I ended. It's been tiring, but very very fulfilling, because in small ways I feel like I'm making a difference in the lives of the youth, and after hearing what Andrew had to say about ways a leader can love his/her youth, I've come to see that every little bit of my presence does help in shaping the culture of YE and mindset of the youth. Here's a list of things I did: 1. Bake for Christmas (Christmas Eve) 2. Play for Christmas, YE Bowling after 3. Went for Sentosa outing the thursday after Christmas 4. Year End Party on that Saturday 5. Met J2s and 2 other cells on Sunday 6. Stayover at church So since this whole slew of activities I haven't got a chance to sit down properly before God and hear his voice for YE. As such still got some pretty big stuff to do: 1. Plan Leader's Syllabus - Got the 1st session down but gotta think of the r
