Roar.

10 days. Its been that long since I've updated. And thats quite enough time to think about pre and post 17 stuff. 1000 apologies to you people who've been checking frequently. To keep it safe, come here every week or so to see the new post. Once you've seen it, make a mental note to come the next week exactly at the same time or slightly later haha.

Alrighty... Now I have to cover 10 days in one long blog post. Sorry to the mean guy who tagged my board. This one's gonna be longer. I think.

Lets start from last thursday. Ok maybe I'll go through both thursdays at once. Hmm. I think I'll make it more fun. So lets play a game. See who can guess which events fall on which thursdays (ok I'll add in some of the stuff on fridays as well).

- Played Lacross for PE (Was on winning team the whole way = no need to do push ups)
- Advance Handball for PE (Didn't do much, I'm the only guy from my class)
- Jheeva, Christine and Carol got stuck in the lift (Hahaha serves you right Jheeva for making Mam walk up himself)
- Played American Football for PE (We lost)
- Played Captain's Ball (Thrashed a team 16-0, refereed the last match)
- Lay Reader's course (Principles in Anglican Worship)
- Lay Reader's course (Practices in Anglican Worship)
- Interview with DOAS (Dean of Academic Studies)

As you can see Thursdays and Fridays are much more physical and spiritual days as compared to the rest. Won't elaborate more on those days. Oh wait! Last friday there was something real important. How could I forget? =P

As you guys know... Monday was my birthday, Tuesday was Mie's birthday, and Wednesday was Michelle & Melissa's (M&M for short) birthdays. Which was pretty cool. The odds of 4 people having birthdays one after another is kinda rare. Ok... Now more about pre-17!

Friday was Lawry's birthday, and we kinda celebrated, Tabby's, Lawry's and my birthday together with a nice chocolate cake. We "blew" out the candles (actually not, cos we used our hands) and then came the expected thing. Chocolate cake in the face. Which I didn't really mind actually haha, cos I kinda expected it and wore my pe till the end of the day.

After watching the guys play chess downstairs I went home, and then to dhoby ghaut to meet the class people yet again for Ballet Under the Stars, which is some ballet thingy held at Fort Canning. (Kinda like the same place as Sonic Fest last year) Came more for the company and not for the event. Cos ballet's not really my cup of tea, though I do get impressed by it.

Got a good look at Mr Wong's GF. She didn't really talk to us much so I wouldn't know anything about her. Overall we kinda got distracted a lot cos of handphone games, some weird UFO flashing thingy in the distance, and mostly for me, the lovely night sky. Whenever I had the chance I'd lie down on the ground. Sometimes I wished I'd joined ODAC to see the open night sky really often and have time to think. CCA choosing is over and done with.

After that most of the guys went to the esplanade to play chess, and I guess it was through chess that we really bonded. So I went home really happy, but really tired. It was a good day. =)
Thanks guys for the nice card!

Saturday I got up early in the morning to go do my pw interview with the principal of OFS. (Overseas Family School) Met Chris and YeeYing at the Orchard MRT and headed for breakfast at Delifrance. Drank tea, ate my waffles and did some sudoku. (haven't touched that in awhile) Of course, I took a look at the interview questions, as I was the one who was supposed to take short hand notes on Chris's com.

We reached OFS early for the interview... The school was kinda like under construction so we found the principal's office in a kinda like messy state. Saw a few boxes filled with files strewn around. When we finally met the principal she told us that she kinda was expecting some people from MOE instead ahaha. So we asked her a few questions, and that was it.

Afterwards we went to help Chris select some birthday gifts for Mie and one of his OG mates. And we all went home. Spent the time mugging and doing homework and all sorts of those kind of stuff, until evening. And when my parents came back, they had with them... A new walkman phone. Thats gonna be real useful for my band yeah.

Then it was time to go and celebrate! We went down to Holland V to have some Crystal Jade, and then to Haagen Daz for some awesome ice cream. Cookies and Cream... *Drools* Took a few photos with my new phone. But probably won't post them. I'll start posting pictures the next post, cos more pics means less words. And I wanna say lots of stuff.

Sunday was CAP, we went around giving people around the neighbourhood near our church small packets of rice for national day. Before that the YE leaders came together for a mentoring meeting to talk about who should mentor who. The info from that meeting is confidential...

After that, I followed my family and went to block 60 to give out those nice small packets of rice. Took a few photos with Marcus Y as the posterboy for rice. Our group was kinda suay, cos of the 3 floors and 12 units covered, only one of them opened up, and one of the families there purposely locked the door on us. Nothing we could do really. Further down in the block, we joined up with uncle Benson, and there was this nice old lady who invited us in, but the youth didn't dare to go in haha.

Recieved a disc from Amanda, Shu and Mel, and it made my day. =)

That was probably it for Sunday, though something absolutely horrible happened at my grandma's house. Which I won't talk about.

I wasn't expecting much from Monday, though it was theoretically my birthday. Especially cos the celebrations had all been done over the weekend and Friday. But I was pleasantly suprised.
YeeYing passed me a nice card during maths which was the first period. It kinda reminded me about the things I'd been doing in school to show God's love, and this was one of the moments that reminded me of that.

The day went along as normal, and finally it was the final session of guitar. Rushed down after my H3, and after I entered, Karthik sorta announced to everyone that it was my birthday, and everyone sang a birthday song for me. He got a gift too, and so did yzyz. Karthik gave me a box of those panda snacks, and yzyz bought me a packet of milo nuggets.

Hyqel and qq came later, and Hyqel showed us some guitar vids of proded people playing. But my dad was here at school, and I went home without seeing last year's RIGE camp vid. And so ended the last practise for guitar.

One last surprise on the way home. My dad took a slight detour... To get my specs! Haha one day early as well. And at home, we ate teppenyaki... *Drools again* And that was the end of my birthday.

Post 17...

Those days passed real quick, the most I could remember was rock stuff. Had a short jamming session on Tuesday, and I didn't bring the chords or lyrics! So that was kinda sad, cos we didn't prac much. Mostly "Here Without You" by 3 doors down, cos I kinda sneaked a capo from the RJGE room that day after I'd borrowed the key to store my bass.

Wednesday was another rock day, cos after school there was this workshop with a US band who camp down, Carpenter's Tools. They're a christian band too. And they played Vertigo by U2 and Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway, which was pretty impressive. After that we broke up into small groups.

Learnt more stuff about bass, cos I specially asked about how to do fill-ins, bass slapping, and stuff like that. So the guy thought me, Hakeem and Zihan slapping. So now I know how to do it, just need some practice. My thumb tends to pluck instead of whack the string. I've been doing quite well for transitions in between chords, but fill-ins are totally different. Gotta learn the Phrygian, Dorian, Mxolydian, Lydian etc scales before I can do those impressive ones just like Andrew.

Asked a bit about the G string buzzing as well, was told that it was cos of the "action" of the strings. That means that the string is too near to the fretboard, so I gotta somehow get an L shaped key and increase the action. So, I'm one step closer to upgrading my bass skills, which is one of my short term goals.

Ok, will kope something from Rachel's ("bloody" ~ go check what I mean ahaha) blog.

I've had some time to reflect about my birthday today, just wanna share with you guys how I feel. I've realised something about friendship that I really hold true to. And I think I've told this to my cell as well as Chin Heng before.

When I look at myself and my friends, I don't really think I can do much to help them in lots of ways. I can't give them perfect advice, I don't really know how to comfort them when they have problems, I listen more than I talk to them, sometimes I'm not on the same frequency as them. But one thing I can do is... Just be there for them no matter what. And thats what friendship to me is all about.

So as this birthday season passes, just wanna thank all my friends out there. You guys don't have to give me gifts, or talk to me often, or even meet me specially. All I need from you guys is for you to be there no matter what happens. When I'm happy, sad, bored, crazy, lonely, acting cool, stoning etc. Nothing else really matters to me. And I'll be glad, just cos you guys are there.

Alright. That was a long one. So... Next post would probably be the story, and will come on tuesday, followed by a national day post, with pics! Courtesy of my new lovely phone. Catch you guys later!

Digimon

I'm feeling quite nostalgic and have been thinking about my childhood a lot recently. A lot of it is because of the retreat I just had with my CG members and how having such a retreat reminded me of days that were more slower paced and more relaxed.  It makes me want to relive some of my memories. Two ways that I've thought about is soccer - I've been watching some of the World Cup matches, and it reminds me of the late nights I had watching matches when I was 15 or so and just starting this blog. About how soccermugger came to be in the first place and how I wanted this platform to post about soccer scores and how I felt about the matches I watched. The other way is to watch old anime, and I'm thinking about revisiting the first ever anime I watched which was Digimon. It was televised in Mandarin at 8am, and I remember waking up early on the weekends to watch it fervently. Maybe its time to do that again.  In general I guess my inclinations are to be more at ease and

Vanguard

It’s taken a long time, but I think my heart is finally at peace. It’s been a tough journey but I am glad to say the worst of it is over. At the moment am surrounded by those who matter to me and I am doing meaningful things. Truly thankful that God has returned me to such a state.  In this season of Good Friday and Easter the word Vanguard comes to mind. Maybe it’s that season of life where God is exactly that for me, where we will be together in uncharted battlegrounds in both personal and professional life.  Not too sure when my next post will be but hope the next will be better than the last. Until next time!

Vox Humana

497th post. Its been a rather pleasant weekend, filled with Gihon and worship stuff. Really enjoyed myself baking with Gihon. Wished we could've taken a vid of everyone for Youth Day... Probably will have to meet them one day to film them haha. Probably will organise a homework doing session for them to complete everything before the hols end. Well Father's Day celebrations today went quite well... Only had a couple of hours to practise for the hoedown, and practise for the worship went comparatively better than the prac during camp. It was my first time playing piano/organ/keys/trumpets/vox for worship, and I'm glad it went ok, and I did it with God. Driving test is on friday... Not too worried about it, and also have no prob with failing it actually. Taking it easy, but hoping for good news. I guess its the peace that transcends all understanding thats taking over. And the most important thing for me for this test is not whether I pass or fail, but whether God was with me
