Yakuza

Realized that I'd be more motivated to update my blog if I'd write down brief outlines of what I want to include in my posts, and also the content would be more interesting and more detailed! So that's what I hope to do with all my posts in the future!

So first exciting thing of the week was YE Camp venue recce, and I must say, those who are coming for the camp will love the venue! Won't spoil too much of it for you guys, and I'll let the publicity speak for itself! It was a pretty exciting first recce trip overseas for me, and went with Pastor William, Shuling, Shaunald and Deborah. Exploring the site was a good experience for me, as I was able to give my input and show them a few things I felt needed attention. I must say this will be one of the best camp sites in terms of space and bonding that I can anticipate, so look forward to it!

Next, the newest anime that I'm currently watching and have introduced to Van: Special A. In essence it's a romance + comedy anime about a group of seven elite students called the Special A, made up of the students who score the 7 highest scores in school. Specifically the Hanazono Hikari, a spunky girl who since young has been competing with a boy called Takishima Kei. They're second and first respectively within Special A, and this revolves around the comedy and romance surrounding both of them. Hikari is rather dense, and doesn't realize Kei's feelings for her. Interesting!

Daryl's about to go for his graduation ceremony, so have been following him around settling grad stuff (since he isn't allowed to drive alone for now). More about Daryl's driving: he can be safe when he wants to, but mostly he likes to do exciting stuff like rev the engine. His parking still needs work. But to all who are wondering how he drives, do sit the car while he's driving! There've been some brave souls, and they've survived so no worries!

Lastly, finally finished all the trophies for Dragon Age: Origins. The trophy that was the headache was to kill 1000 of the storyline monsters, the darkspawn. It's really buggy so had to delete the latest patch in order to get it to activate. But finally did it! So now... Playing a new game: Yakuza 4. Quite interesting, as I probably am going to take a General Education Module about Yakuza, Geisha and well known Japanese icons. Here's a pic.

You have to play as 4 main characters throughout the storyline, and it's about how these 4 men come together to protect the area of Kamurocho in their own way. Right now I'm only at the first character, a moneylender called Akiyama Shun who lends money with no interest and collateral, but with interesting terms and conditions. Not too sure about the entire storyline yet, but we'll see.

That's all for today!

It's been quite some time since the last post, and time has just been ticking on. I'm entering a new phase in my career in a new office at Queenstown. Things are good on the work front, as I've been given a vote of confidence and responsibilities despite my young age. Eventually I'll be getting re-designated as a Team Leader, and looking forward to it! It's a sign that I am well versed enough in the work. Another part of my life that has been looking up - playing keys/bass for the newly created Saturday Service for church. I feel that spiritually things are well despite the turmoil of last year. A great sense of fulfillment and meaning whenever I do that, as if I'm back to my roots. In terms of leisure the usual things:  1. Soccer - Late night matches (back to the good old days) 2. PS4 - Trying to finish off Tales of Berseria, moving on to Assassins Creed: Origin thereafter 3. Anime - Still watching the good old stuff that is still going on (One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh,...

Digimon

I'm feeling quite nostalgic and have been thinking about my childhood a lot recently. A lot of it is because of the retreat I just had with my CG members and how having such a retreat reminded me of days that were more slower paced and more relaxed.  It makes me want to relive some of my memories. Two ways that I've thought about is soccer - I've been watching some of the World Cup matches, and it reminds me of the late nights I had watching matches when I was 15 or so and just starting this blog. About how soccermugger came to be in the first place and how I wanted this platform to post about soccer scores and how I felt about the matches I watched. The other way is to watch old anime, and I'm thinking about revisiting the first ever anime I watched which was Digimon. It was televised in Mandarin at 8am, and I remember waking up early on the weekends to watch it fervently. Maybe its time to do that again.  In general I guess my inclinations are to be more at ease and ...

Bakemonogatari

Hiya everyone! Just signed my permanent staff contract today and I must say that was a real moment of satisfaction. Shows that the 2 years of hard work and dedication to what I do has paid off in a big way and I'm happy with my work. When I started my job I had no idea it would be this fulfilling and enjoyable and I am so blessed to have it. Couple of exciting things are happening: for one a holiday with my family to Korea. Other stuff include pay raises and the bonus that goes with it, Euro 2016 etc. I finally watched a match on Saturday (it was boring) but Sunday night's matches were great. Tonight not too sure if I'll watch any but it's shaping up to be an exciting tournament. Well that's all for now, more updates after the next series!
