As Good Friday draws closer, can't help but reflect on the meaning of death and how much Jesus means to me. It seems that lots of things around are just reminding me of how a simple death is much more complicated than one can ever imagine.
The play that PLMGSS's drama club put up was centered around the themes of death and dealing with it, themes that are so deep yet meaningful. Death can be internal, not only external. Death is sometimes not a choice, so to live should mean a lot to you. And lastly, death can be a form of release and freedom. Those were the overarching themes that were shown during the play. Well all these are true for us humans, but when Jesus died on the cross... Its just a whole lot more meaningful than that don't you think?
Regina's dad's wake reminded me of something else. How the passing of someone close can hurt so much, because we have loved him/her deeply... And as we remember Jesus's death, do we feel the same way? I hope we do, and even more than that. I can say I do. As I was preparing for YE worship on saturday tears couldn't help but well up in my eyes. I was mourning inside. But as I continued preparing I was reminded of Christ's victory, and oh how much I give thanks for that. Mourning turned to praise, and a deeper welling up of love within my heart that I want to share with others.
After these many years of commemorating Good Friday and Easter, I've never seen the events of this period of time with so much clarity before. And its thanks to everything that has been happening over this week. Well, everything happens for a reason, for God's glory.
